Canine Lymphoma Symptoms and Treatment

Canine lymphoma usually occurs in middle aged dogs, especially Golden Retrievers. Cause this type of cancer is unknown. This may affect the genetic or environmental factors, or both.
Canine lymphoma symptoms
Different types of dog symptoms of lymphoma. There are several types of lymphoma, depending on the lungs, the body develops.
1. Multi – lymphatic cancer develops as a painless lumps in the neck, behind the knees under the front foot and groin. This is the most common, at least 80% of all canine lymphoma. It may spread to internal organs such as pancreas, liver and bone marrow. The later stages of the disease, causes inflammation of the obstacles to the affected organs and symptoms such as weakness, fatigue, loss of appetite and fever may appear.
2. Diet – cancer of the gastrointestinal tract results in vomiting, loss of appetite, diarrhea and weight loss.
3. Mediastinal – inflammation of the thymus. Advanced stage of disease, dogs develop shortness of breath, fluid accumulation in the lungs, and hypercalcemia.
4. Skin – it affects the skin, causing lesions, itching, redness, nodules, plaques, and hair loss.
Diagnosis of lymphoma in dogs
Diagnostic tests may be affected by lymph node biopsy with a needle aspirate, blood, ultrasound and x-ray.
Treatment of canine lymphoma
Chemotherapy is the only treatment options. Treatment protocol and its effectiveness determined by stage of disease and location of the tumor. The combination of chemotherapy drugs administered orally, and its administration.
Unlike people, most dogs do not experience side effects of chemotherapy. In fact, less than 10% of dogs can suffer serious effects requiring hospitalization. Possible side effects include hair loss, digestive problems, loss of appetite, fatigue, diarrhea, vomiting, blood in the urine, and low white blood cell count.
